Abstract

The article deals with the politically and socially turbulent period that prevailed in Florence of the Holy Roman Empire from the dawn of the 12th to the first decades of the 14th century and the reasons why this period influenced Dante's thought and shaped and determined the political concepts of the Divine Comedy.
