The understanding of learning as merely an intellectual process belongs to the past. Today, it is scientifically established that emotions and affective states play a central role in how people absorb, process, and retain information over the long term. Emotions not only influence how effectively learning content is acquired but also how well it is anchored in memory and later retrieved. Positive emotions promote the willingness to learn, increase intrinsic motivation, and enhance attention, significantly enriching the overall learning process. In contrast, negative emotions can severely impair the learning process. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the mechanisms through which emotional factors influence learning. Only in this way can targeted strategies be developed that not only overcome obstacles but also create an emotionally supportive learning environment that fosters the learning process on cognitive, emotional, and social levels.
