Focus and Scope

The Journal for Critical Education Policy Studies is a leading open access, international, and peer-reviewed scholarly journal that represents Marxist and other radical left perspectives, analyses, and proposals related to education. We publish work that contributes to radical and revolutionary struggles and thought throughout the world. We welcome contributions across disciplinary boundaries and from a diversity of topics and issues, contemporary or historical.

We encourage scholarship that examines the oppression, super-exploitation, and resistance of all social groups along the lines of race and nationality, gender and sexuality, dis/ability, and colonization, and more.

Our mission is to advance Marxist education and organizing for the radical transformation of our current global order.

We primarily publish:

  • book reviews (1000-1500 words)

Peer Review Process

The Journal for Critical Education Policy Studies  (JCEPS) is a double-blind peer reviewed international scholarly journal. Before a manuscript is sent for review, each article is assessed by members of the editorial team to ensure that the manuscript is in keeping the aims and scope of the journal; submissions may be declined if they fall outside the scope of the journal. Appropriate manuscripts will then be forwarded to a memeber of the editorial team for assignment to peer review. Upon receipt of peer reviews, decisions on acceptance are made by the JCEPS editorial team.

Open Access Policy

JCEPS is an open access journal, provided through the generous support of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Contents are immediately free to all upon publication of a journal issue. Back issues of the journal will be available open access as archived materials are moved to this system.

The International Conference on Critical Education

JCEPS is part of the network that hosts the annual International Conference on Critical Education (ICCE). For more than a decade ICCE has brought together critical educators to discuss Marxian/ist analysis in the field of education and to build networks of solidarity, support, and learning.
