Abstract

The present volume brings together selected contributions from the International Language Week 2022, held under the theme “Mapping Cross Roads: Cultures, Languages and Literatures” and organized in cooperation between the Department of German Language and Literature of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences. The contributions reflect the interdisciplinary, multicultural, and multilingual orientation of the conference and are structured into three thematic sections: Linguistics and Didactics, Literature and Translation, and Interculturality. Overall, the volume aims to promote a dialogic, transcultural, and interdisciplinary understanding of language, literature, and culture within the context of global interconnectedness.

The section on Linguistics and Didactics addresses current approaches to foreign language teaching, the development of multilingual competences, and the assessment of language skills. The section on Literature and Translation focuses on literary and translation studies, highlighting both canonical and intercultural perspectives on German-language and European literature. Finally, the contributions on Interculturality explore communicative, cultural, and philosophical dimensions of intercultural encounters across diverse social contexts.
